There are a few fanatics / fanboys for the PowerPC and AMD chips and even some die hard fans of Motorola chips but Intel’s recent processor line revamp has proven that this company will be around for quite a while longer. Intel announced its Core line of chips last year and followed up with a 64 bit version in July of 2006. It took Apple a few months to implement the Core2 brand of processors into its machines but it seems like every PC manufacturer jumped for the opportunity to run this new architecture.
AMD has desperately trying to upseat Intel and is having no luck. Not a day goes by where I read AMD has announced a new product, released a new press release or is quoted saying something about better chips coming soon but I’m losing faith and so is the rest of the PC world. There may be a couple of WoW players locked in their basements touting AMDs but most of the world including Cell phones, PDAs, and even televisions are sporting Intel chipsets and this company is here to stay.
I could go on about all of the processor technologies with Core and performance per watt but I encourage you to spend some time reading up on these specs and deciding for yourself if Intel truly kicks ass.
