Where do you go to find articles from news sources or blogs? When I get an itch for real world news, I travel over to Google News to get my fill. When it comes to finding new blogs, I use Digg and Technorati. I know Google offers a blog search tool but that Google Blog search needs some serious design work to make it much easier to navigate.
Digg is an interesting site and has many article but mostly editorials from individuals. Many of the articles featured on Digg are posted by the authors that are just looking for some free hits from the social news site. It’s extremely easy to get a few dozen extra hits from this site. Just submit a story, make it look interesting and people will begin clicking away. I have tried some experimenting with this and I’ve learned that no one subscribes to your feed or comes back so its extra effort and unless you make it to Digg’s main page, don’t look to receiving more than 100 extra unique visiting that day.
Technorati is a blog search engine. It scours the web for blog posts (given that you have added your blog to their directory) and adds them to its directory through the user of tags. You can go to Technorati and force the service to refresh your blog for new articles posted. At that point, people can search your blog for specific content and your blog will appear in searches under the tags you’ve assigned.
It appears Delicious is another site but I have yet to delve into this site. Delicious seems to be too much work for my liking and when I have a free Sunday all to myself, I’ll explore this site to its full potential. Are there any other sites that I should be looking into?
