Today is Friday and we are heading back to San Francisco via interstate 280 after an exciting trip to Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino. The people that attended our city tour, keynote meet up and party at Swig have decided to plan a trip to the Apple Mecca and many of us had never been here before. This was my third trip to the campus but one of the most memorable. I’ve enjoyed my week in San Francisco and this was a great way to close things out. We arrived Sunday and it’s been nonstop for the past 6 days. We woke up today, hopped in a couple of cars and made the 40-minute drive and boy was it worth it. We all purchased a bit of Apple products in the form of pens, stationary and t-shirts and then took a few photos in front of the campus sign proving that we were here. The final bit consisted of lunch at “BJ’s” on De Anza blvd. which was really great food! I remember eating here before but the food was exquisite as always.

This was a great expo professionally but I can’t help but feel like I have not provided the amount of coverage that I would have liked. I was constantly distracted by my community events, appearances for film and print media and I was also under contract with Spymac to provide all photos to them for the expo week. This resulted in less media content on DTT but I’ve made a point to link to the content on our site and I hope you’ve browsed Spymac and found my photos make you feel like you’re at expo. Our keynote coverage was top notch and our events like the city tour and party went very well and I’m proud to have such a great diverse group of readers and friends that came to the event to show their support.

This was Laura’s first expo and she did well comparable to my first expo back in 2004. She’s a Mac user and really enjoyed the booths, classes and the city of San Francisco with all of its things to do. She provided great coverage in the form of photos and you can thank her for most of the photos from the expo hall since I was busy doing audio related things, press relations and working on the business side of things. Tonight, she and I will be celebrating. We’ve booked a two-hour Segway tour at 4:30 and its 70 dollars per person, which is not bad considering its not too much less for a scooter or bike rental in the form of a tour. I’ve never ridden a Segway and since Woz swears by them, I believe we should give it a go.

After the Segway, she and I will be attending dinner at the Grand View, which is an eating establishment at the top of the Grand Hyatt on Stockton. It’s a great place with top-notch food that offers an amazing view of the city of San Francisco. Afterwards, there’s the Macworld closeout meet up and it will be a small quaint affair with only a dozen of us since the Red Wood room is a very expensive and posh atmosphere its difficult to draw a crowd but the tradition stands and I’m always up for playing dress up.

We will be leaving on Sunday and I’ll try to deliver audio through that point, post a couple of more closing articles, upload a few more photos and don’t worry—Macworld related things are going away. Macworld won’t be mentioned for at least another week as we begin planning Macworld 2008 with amazing coverage from multiple correspondents, hundreds of images and videos and some of the best parties Macworld has ever seen.
