It’s been nearly 30 hours since I began this quest to saving Liana’s studio space. She has given her graces along the way to continue with what I’m doing. Liana is my friend and I’m accepting no money for this at all and just trying to help keep this studio alive. I wouldn’t continue on if she hadn’t asked me to so here goes.

After much deliberation and planning, we’re going to host a fund raiser tonight to help the studio stay a part of the community and not be sold off piece by piece. We’re going to keep this studio alive. We have an outside party who is friends with Liana who has offered to purchase all of the equipment from the current owners and negotiations have already been initiated. With the money raised this weekend, we’ll be able to sign a new lease on this building and form a new company. The company will be a public use studio that will allow independent filmmakers and podcasters to create great content for the web. Hopefully, with a couple of corporate sponsorships and donations the studio can stay around for years to come.

Inspiring people with great ideas is what this will be about. Everyone can make a difference. The studio is not a not for profit organization yet but everyone that donates this weekend will be added as a “charter member” and be recognized for their generosity in helping the studio become independent. We can do this and I’m going to do everything I can to make this a reality for Liana. I’ll be live all night tonight at Ustream.TV accepting call-ins and I hope you’ll join me in the fight to save the studio.

We’re located at 2331 3rd street in San Francisco. Please text me or email if you’d like to swing by and be a part of the experience in person. My contact info is below. Everyone else, please do your part in spreading the word on Twitter, blogs and on your own podcasts. The stream starts at 7PM Pacific Time.

Here is the info for spreading the word and donating:
UPDATE: Any company that donates $1000, will get a month of free advertising on the MyMac.com Podcast!

STUMBLE THIS!

I received an in-depth document that details tons of Adobe CS4 information and it’s mostly info regarding Photoshop CS4, Bridge CS4 and the launch date of the latest version of Adobe’s Creative Suite.

First of all, the launch date is going to be around or during Adobe Max which takes place November 16th-19th in San Francisco or at the end of September around the 23rd. Adobe Creative Suite product cycles are around 18 months and Adobe CS3 was released on April 16th, 2007 so Adobe Max would mean 19 months since the last release. Let’s take a look at some features that may or may not be included in Adobe CS4.

Adobe Photoshop CS4:
Codename: Adobe Stonehenge CS4 Extended. Splash screen is Stonehenge.
1. Interface is similar to CS3 but there are small and minor polishes that complete the look.
2. Support for “Extensions” under the “Window” menu
3. The extension manager is in every CS4 application
3. “kuler” which is a Intranet color pallet collaboration tool for sharing color swatches with others on your team.
4. Flash Support (more on this later)

Adobe Panel Configurator 1.0 (Alpha Version):
1. It’s a way to create Photoshop toolboxes.
2. Choose from over 860+ commands, tools and application features and create your own toolboxes that work in any CS4 application
3. Supports Actions and Scripts too
4. Drag and drop text fields into these toolboxes
5. Support for SWF and Quicktime video files in toolboxes (not sure why)
6. Export the toolbar file and open it in any CS4 application.

CS4 Suite New Features:
1. Flash SWF support across all applications
2. You can open SWF files in any app and play them
3. A tool for developing flash content without any coding experience is coming

Adobe Bridge CS4:
1. New Interface (cleaner, more like Apple’s Leopard Finder)
2. Sidebar and search tool location are just like Mac OS Leopard
3. Folder navigation just like Windows Vista Explorer
4. Labels and star ratings are easier to access.
5. Filtered searches are now much faster even across thousands of images
6. List View in Bridge
7. Auto Photo Downloader to download photos from your camera is now easier and better than Bridge CS3
8. Improved slideshows. Spacebar starts slideshow (like quickview in leopard)
9. From Slideshow, just hit “r” and Adobe Camera Raw opens automatically.
10. Review Mode: (full screen review of photos)
a. Just like a full screen version of Apple coverflow
b. Loopt tool built in
c. Open all photos and review photos and drop photos out of view that you don’t want and other stay in full screen
d. Upon leaving review mode, photos you kept are now selected in bridge. Ones you dropped are still there but not selected.
e. Ability to create photocollections from within review mode
11. Collections are just like Playlists in iTunes. Ability to group photos. Location of photo is not changed.
12. More sharing options
a. Upload directly to FTP within Bridge
b. Web gallery templates are easy and uses the same templates available in Lightroom 2
c. Ability to create flash galleries with a few clicks and upload instantly
d. Uses the Opera engine to render galleries within Bridge
e. Photoshop Web Gallery is going away and being replaced by Bridge Web Gallery
13. Bridge CS4 Menus (in order left to right)
File – Edit – View – Sttacks – Label – Tools – Window – Help

Adobe CS4 Applications are exactly the same as CS3 but the text in the icons is black instead of white.

Hard to believe you could run a whole video site just by posting vids of people unboxing new gadgets, but I’ll be darned if the guys at Unboxing haven’t gone and done it– their latest video shows off the new iMac, and I have to say (a little ashamedly) that I was glued to my screen the whole time. I don’t know if opening up something Apple didn’t make would have the same effect, but going through that box piece by piece, with all the little custom packaging and that incredible keyboard… wow it brings a smile to my face!

Apple makes iMovie HD from the iLife '06 package available as a free download

Today, Apple Inc , has made iMovie HD available as a free download for users of older Macs and for those who miss some film creation features unavailable in the new version of the iLife ‘08 application.

The company explains that it is making iMovie HD available for iLife ‘08 users whose hardware doesn’t meet the more stringent demands of iMovie HD, which requires either an Intel or a fast G5 processor. The latest versions of iPhoto, iDVD, GarageBand and iWeb will also run on a G4 Mac. iMovie HD is available now as a free 154.6MB download from the company’s website.

Other World Computing offers 4GB of Ram

Other World Computing (OWC) on Friday announced the availability of a 4.0GB memory kit for Apple’s newest MacBook Pros.

The kit, configured as two 2GB memory modules, costs $219.99 and is available now.

http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple-Intel-DDR2

The kit is compatible with the new 2.2GHz and 2.4GHz MacBook Pro models — both systems employ Intel’s “Santa Rosa” microprocessor and bus design, which enables them to properly register 4GB of RAM. Older Core 2 Duo-equipped MacBook Pros are limited to 3GB of RAM. “The kit meets or exceeds Apple’s electrical and mechanical design requirements” according to OWC.

Adding further RAM to any computer, Mac or PC improves the performance of the machine – and helps running OS and Applications together… quicker!

switch from Mac OSX 10.5 to Windows, in one second

In the latest version of Leopard 10.5, you can now switch very fast between Mac OSX and Windows! No restarting to use Bootcamp! Just select “Switch to Windows” from OS X, and your machine goes to sleep. Wake it up and you appear in Windows. You can do the same thing once in Windows to switch back to OSX. VERY VERY NICE feature, no reason to use virtualization.. at least.
