HTC introduces Desire Eye, a smartphone designed for ‘selfies’

The Taiwanese company HTC China – in New York presented its new flagship Desire EYE, a ‘smartphone’ specially designed for the ‘selfies’, due to the integration of two cameras of 13 megapixel each.

HTC Desire EYE is fully equipped for “those who love to take photos, videos and selfies” as the company explained in a statement. For this, the ‘smartphone’ has two cameras, one rear and one front, two in megapixel, with the option to record FULL HD video at 1080 pixels; with Dual LED flash and autofocus with zoom.




Available in two color variations (light and dark blue, or red and white), HTC Desire Eye is not a phone for shy users or who like muted colors. Made in two types of plastic, the casing is resistant to the water IPX7 certification.

According to HTC, this protection is enough for the Desire Eye can dive to be a depth of water for half an hour. It is perfect to survive accidental drops in puddles, but we do not recommend putting it in the sink.




The ‘smartphone’ has FULL HD features with a 5.2-inch display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor at 2.3 GHz, 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage – although it may vary according to the model, with possibility of extension via a microSD card.

Among other specifications, features two front stereo speakers with integrated amplifiers, three microphones for improved background noise cancellation and technology Sense Voice. HTC Desire Eye incorporates a 2,400mAh battery, which allows a range of up to 20 hours talk time and 538 hours standby, allowing 3G, 4G-LTE and Bluetooth 4.0, micro-USB 2.0 and WiFi connectivity.
