Prior to installing Leopard I was getting about 1.25 hours on a full charge on my MacBook Pro while streaming on Justin.TV and getting 3.5 hours with the backlight dimmed and just typing articles. Since installing Leopard, if Im just browsing the web with the backlight up and airport turned on, Im only achieving 1 hour of operation on a full charge. If I dim the monitor and turn of airport its about 1.75 hours. Streaming on Justin.TV takes my battery down to just a few minutes.
Ive calibrated my battery and dont see any thing on Apple Support Discussions on the issue but it looks like Leopard greatly affects my battery life. I purchased this MacBook Pro new in the box from an eBay seller right after the 2.4Ghz MBPs came out (this is a 2.33) and the battery life has been great. Battery Health Monitor, an application I found via MacUpdate shows that Ive only performed 50 charge cycles on this unit so Ive got 75% life left on the battery. With that said, I dont feel that the battery needs to be replaced.
Ill perform more testing but as of now, 1 hour of battery life on a full charge and just web browsing is crap! I know Apple has never had a notebook that gets the full 5 or 6 hour battery life that they advertise in real world tests but 1 hour is just crap especially that I got 3 hours doing the same stuff in Tiger.
