I’m seriously considering a move back to the original iPhone. I could still find one on eBay right now for a good price.

My white 16Gb 3G iPhone could go for about $900 and I’ll buy the older model and adopt the old iPhone plan for some serious savings. Why would I want to go back. That’s pretty easy.

1. Battery Life
2. Price per month
3. Reliability

The battery life on the new iPhone is horrendous. For the past week, I’ve had the brightness all of the way down with Wi-Fi and 3G turned off. I place it in airline mode at night to save battery and I don’t even use the device more than 30 minutes a day. Many have argued that my OS is having issues or my iPhone hardware is at fault and that I should call Apple. Well, two weeks ago, I sold my white 16gb model and went out and bought a new one for the full $499 retail price and nothing has changed. With my current configuration, by 1PM the battery is nearly dead and I must charge it ASAP.

I don’t mind paying more per month for the iPhone 3G because data rates really are twice as fast but, as I stated, 3G on my iPhone is disabled and has been for over a week. I’m using EDGE everywhere so why pay for something that isn’t even being used.

Reliability is pretty much a problem with the 2.0 software but I’ve tried everything to increase reliability and it’s utter crap. Google Maps is totally unusable and other issues with the phone inspires thoughts of throwing it through a wall.

So there you have it. I hate the iPhone 3G and long for a mobile phone that I can run at full brightness for hours on end with a battery life and reliability that one should expect from a mobile phone.
