Star Wars Kid Story:
Started in 2003. Went to Kazaa and spread like wildfire.
File was originally named “jackass_starwars.wmv” Andy renamed it “starwarskid” and posted it to waxy.org.
After 10 days, the blog post received 1 million pageviews that day.
They tracked down the kid and interviewed him.
A fundraiser to help the kid out to get an iPod as a thank you for the laughs and they raised $4300 dollars. It was being downloaded 500K a day.
30 of waxy.org’s friends were hosting the video from him.
The downloads equaled 2.3 terabytes of downloads.

It took the media 3 weeks to discover the meme and continued for 6 months.

Waxy.org founder shipped the iPod and other donations to the star wars kid and thought it was over.
The meme continued spreading through pop culture in video games and TV shows.
Starwarskid is the most viewed viral video ever (900 million times)
The first viral video was dancing baby and then “all your base” also showing the “metalica drummer” which was a guy doing airdrumming.
Before the internet, Memes were localized.
