Microsoft Outlook Daylight Savings Time Update

Due to the 2007 changes to Daylight Savings Time, Microsoft Outlook calendar entries made for March 11, 2007 to April 1, 2007 and October 28, 2007 to November 4, 2007 may not reflect the appropriate time change. This will result in the calendar entries for the aforementioned dates being displayed as 1 hour off. To address this issue, Microsoft has released an update tool which must be run on each Outlook user's workstation.

The following instructions ensure that your computer is compliant with the new Daylight Savings Time changes and that all Outlook appointments reflect the time change as well. This set of instructions applies to all computers running Windows XP with Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2007.

Step 1

Prior to running the update tool, the February 2007 cumulative time zone update for Microsoft Windows operating systems must be installed. If your PC is configured for Automatic Updates you should already have this update installed.

Perform the following steps to ensure that this update is installed on your PC:

- Open the following Link in Internet Explorer: http://tinyurl.com/39orer
- Click the Continue button in the Validation required section
- If prompted, install the Windows Genuine Validation Component by clicking the yellow information bar at the top of your Internet Explorer window and selecting, "Install Active X Control". You'll be asked to install the Windows Genuine Advantage.
- You will then be sent to a Download page. Click the Download button, and save the file to your Desktop
- When the download completes, run the installer by double-clicking the "WindowsXP-KB931836-x86-ENU" file that is located on your Desktop

(Note: If your computer has already installed the update through Automatic Updates, you will receive the following message:
"Update cannot be installed as a newer or same time zone update has already been installed on the system."
If you receive this message, click OK and continue to the next step)

- The Software Update Installation Wizard will open, click Next
- Select I Agree on the license agreement page and click Next
- The update will run and you can click "Finish".
- After the installation completes, you can delete the "WindowsXP-KB931836-x86-ENU" file from the Desktop

- When the installation is complete, the application will run and open a window titled Change Calendar Time Zone
