Why DailyTechTalk?

Technology has enabled us to do more work with less energy. At least thats what my 10th grade science teacher told me once. In todays world, if we can dream if, then it can be done (with enough money of course.) DailyTechTalk is your daily jolt of technology from my perspective. We will posts encompassing news, editorials, how-to and personal experiences all involving technology. However, the only technology I will be covering is tech that is powered by traditional outlets, solar or wind power. I will not be covering medical, weaponry or civil advances and Im sure you have a slew of blogs out there to give you your daily fill for those things.

DailyTechTalk is my new site and it will be taking the editorial spin found on my previous blog, MyPersonalGetaway. I sold that website a few months ago to start a site with a name that matched the content. I have invested a lot of time and money since July 31st to make this site awesome. I have moved to the most expensive 1&1 hosting plan for bandwidth and storage reasons. I have moved to Pmachines expression engine for our content management system on the backend. I am using Urchin and Mint for user tracking and reporting. I have employed the knowledge of Ross from nthdesigns.co.uk to handle the design and with his help I setup the code and final touches to make the system interface with the front-end site. Ross was also kind enough to develop a theme for our forums which match the website very well.

Six months later, only because I have a full time job, this site is up and ready to go live. Youre viewing the first article of DailyTechTalk and Im glad you could join us. For launch, I have Ross handling design and enhancements (yes Im paying him), Terry managing our reviews section and Laura pursuing editorials and also managing our advertising / marketing efforts. We have a great team and I hope to build a community that other weblogs envy.

We are still tweaking the backend and the ad server is almost done. I have a few advertisers waiting but you have to do what you have to do, right? Throughout the month of December, I will just be posting articles / tidbits. If youre lucky, you will get two or more articles a day. Beginning January 1st, I will begin to post weekly podcasts. My plan is to have an audio file up every Monday morning. Im launching these sections separately because I want to gauge my time management and see if I have enough content to warrant a weekly show. DailyTechTalk articles are posted five days a week excluding national holidays and expect to have the post by noon Monday Friday for some lunch hour reading.

One more thing. Macworld Conference & Expo is in January and well be there! I have mentioned this before but I did want to make it known again. If you want Macworld coverage, just make DailyTechTalk your home page and youll be sure to receive all of the Macworld expo news as it happens. I will be doing my coverage for UneasySilence.com but will be linking to all of my articles on DTT. Ill be doing personal podcasts that will be hosted under our upcoming podcast section. Laura and me will be flying to SF on January 7th and returning on the 14th. Expect some great photos from this budding photographer and Ill try to keep things fun an informative with multiple articles for day. Were throwing a crap load of events and you can click on our Upcoming Events sidebar on any of our pages for complete info.

Thanks for celebrating our first day and Ill see you on Monday!

Well, I'm a couple days behind, but it's good to see things get rolling. Congrats, Mister Jackson.
