Opinions: What are the PC magazines talking about?

If you are visiting this website, I am sure you dont even dare pick up a PC magazine while at the newsstand. You just dont do it, but I make a point to for one reason; what are PC users talking about. To really enjoy being a Mac user, you have to know what is happening on the other side. Remember when your Mom would tell you, think of all of the people out there that dont have food to eat, they would love to have what you have in front of you. Well, this is the same idea for my little monthly trip to the newsstands. Of course, I would never buy a PC magazine; in fact I am the proud reader of almost 10 Mac-Related magazines a month. It takes time, but each magazine has their great parts.

Ok, so I got a bit off subject, but back to the PC magazine thing, in the course of six months, I have just simply looked at the cover of a PC World. Each time, it is not talking about the latest computers, software, or how to create movies, and even best computers for your money. I think they gave up. They know if they write tutorials, PC users wont know how to do it because their computers cant run the software, or crashes, or maybe it is too complicated for them, and if they do a feature on the fastest chips, by print time, the chips will already be one gigahertz faster. They have stuck with subjects that are safe for them.
So what are PC magazines writing about? Let me give you a sample of the titles, Get rid of viruses & how to avoid them, top 50 PC troubleshooting tips, Is your identity safe from hackers? and How secure is your network? Do any of these titles have a pattern? I bet the kids on Blues Clues could figure the patter in these. They all seem to share the same pattern, which are covering problems that PC users actually face. I say, it is about damn time. Because, for the longest time, they did not dare talk about what really was wrong with Pcs. Lately, I have seen PC magazines an open bash fest on problems users are encountering and even reviews will state that, we could not get this hardware/software device to work for the final stage of testing. That is horrible, but they are only stating the truth. Actually, I am surprised they can even make the magazine come out on time. Think about it, if they have all of these virus problems, and troubleshooting tips, I bet they have a difficult time meeting deadline.
How does reading these magazines help Mac users? Well, it makes us proud to be on the other side. It seems like only a small percentage of PC users see a trend. Only a few know that Macs dont have the same problems. If you look at this months Mac magazines, you see a different trend. The titles are, Grads & Dads; A gift guide, Ultimate Mac Studio; Play and record, 79 Power tips for the power user. Now, those were tips, not troubleshooting. This has a purpose, since our Macs work so well, we just need to know how to work faster. PC users cant worry about working faster, when their computers wont work due to viruses, hackers and um everything else they have to deal with.
