Macworld Coverage in September?
I receive this question every year since 2005, Why are you covering Macworld in September when the show is over 100 days away? Great Question! Some people, especially those with families, plan things in advance and Macworld is also considered a business trip for many professionals. Individuals will be submitting their plans to attend Macworld in early November and others book their plane tickets at least 2 months in advance to secure good deals.

With that said, I want to be the place that has all of the Macworld info and by talking about Macworld 2008 in September, Im increasing my pagerank on Google when someone searches for it. Macworld veterans begin messaging me as soon as registration opens (which occurred last week) and new people that dont know jack about the conference start searching the Internet for Macworld 08, MWSF08 and Macworld parties about this time. When they do, Im up there and thats my goal.
Its not about the money or advertising. My advertising during Macworld only pays for my trip expenses and throwing kick ass parties! My objective with all of this time and effort is to help first time attendees have a fantastic time and not once are they sitting in their hotel room with nothing to do. Ive hosted 4 years of events from our annual city tour, trip to Apple headquarters and the extremely popular Macworld party that I host.
Last years city tour was our largest ever with nearly 30 people. The more the merrier in my opinion and Im always happy that more than 85% of those people are first time visitors to the conference and SF and the emails I receive after the week of events is always positive with much thanks for a fantastic time. Countless occasions, Ive heard people say that they are only going to one Macworld because its what a Mac user is supposed to do at least once but after attending the parties and events, the state that they cant wait for the next year to do it all again.
I want to make Macworld a community event that everyone with a Macintosh has to attend. My dream is to one-day just host community events for the entire week without doing any Macworld coverage and personally meet hundreds of people during our activities. Im glad that you took the time to read this and you can contact me anytime if you have any questions about Macworld, our events and if you have any ideas to make our week much better. My MWSF08 email address is Macworld at dailytechtalk.com.
Thanks again and well see you in San Francisco!
