Apple technologies and Future Cut helped make Lily Allen's 'Smile'

Apple has published an in-depth report detailing the Mac technologies that helped create Lily Allen's smash-hit song, 'Smile'.

The track was co-written and produced by Future Cut Productions, Darren Lewis and Tunde Babalola, who used Macs equipped with Logic Pro to create Lily's hit single (and several other tracks on her debut album).

What's Lily like to work with? "The great thing about Lily is she's got an amazing sense of melody, and she's really, really fast (to work with). I think she'd lose interest if she wasn't," Lewis explains.

Apple's report describes the impact of technology on music production, with the Future Cut pair stressing that music creation doesn't depend on hours of programming a synth. "It's not about what sounds you can get anymore, but how you use them. It's like production has gone back to the music again," they say.
