Everyone is Buying The MacBookAir
I've been watching closely over the past 2 months and time after time, I see Apple's MacBook Air at the top of Apple's online store best-sellers list. I believe that's updated every day. Amazon's top selling notebooks category shows a different story with Apple's MacBook sitting at number 2 and The MacBook Air at number 22 on the list.
I feel that Apple's Mac sales being dominated by the new notebook is a big deal. It shows a couple of things:
1. People don't care about processor speed and they don't need the fastest CPU and only care about computing on the go
2. Sexy wins over function. I know the MBA is thin & light but it's a good looking computer and you're definitely paying for the small footprint
3. It's cool to have a MacBook Air and that's why people are switching.
The trend these things selling is showing in mainstream. Right now, as I write this from a cafe, 3 out of 10 Mac notebooks are MacBook Air systems. You don't need a MacBook Pro to blog and chat with friends so people are opting for a small and light system on the go. My question is, why pay for a 1.6Ghz system at $1799 when you have two other really great options?
1. Purchase a loaded MacBook (2.4 w/ 4gbs of ram for less)
2. Spend an additional $200 bucks and get a great MacBook Pro
I guess it really does come down to the 3lb beauty with a small footprint that sells people. I knew the notebook would sell but I didn't think it would sell that well and overtake MacBook and MacBook Pro sales for the past 6 weeks.

A lot of the things that I need on the run are not in the MacBook. Great iCandy, but not for me.
