Macworld 2007 Apple rumor rundown

I am not the only blog with live coverage of the Macworld keynote but I will be offering the most stable and up to date coverage followed up by photos and video that will be pretty cool to say the least. I did want to rundown my yearly Macworld 2007 predictions for what our favorite fruit will announce at this years show. Steve Jobs will take the stage on Tuesday January 9th and somehow manage to blow our minds with everything weve already predicted. I anticipate an announcement that we dont expect and it will be something that only one blog guessed at Apple releasing and it really was just a guess. Anyway, Im going to rundown what we already have and the likelihood of Apple releasing such a product in January.

iPhone: 50% likely to be announced.
The iPhone has been mentioned every Macworld since the year 2000 and thats the only reason why this has a 50% likelihood for this years expo. Everything points to an impending release but Im still not convinced. We have mockups, specs, trademarks and even blogs devoted to this product with Wall Street firms issuing statements that this is in the pipeline but no matter how many factors point to this release, I will not believe it until Steve makes it his one more thing announcement at the keynote.

Quad Core MacPro: 75% likely to be announced.
The only reason Apple would delay this announcement would be for Aprils NAB announcement buy a quad core MacPro would certainly boost sales and create an even more clear separation between the consumer and professional line of Apples desktop line. Expect other goodies like increased memory, storage and such to be added and Im going to go on record that there will be an eight core Mac at the top end of the new MacPro lineup when it does get refreshed.

Core2Duo Mac mini: 100% likely to be announced.
The Mac mini is the only product in Apples computer line that is still powered by the Coreduo processor and is still sporting a solo core configuration with the Coresolo chip from Intel. Every system is powered by the Core2 micro architecture and the Mac mini will definitely be updated with this new chip. Another addition will be the Broadcom 802.11n wireless protocol added to the computer.

iTV: 50% likely to be announced.
This device will be released in the first half of 2007 but a Macworld announcement may not be the place. The pre-announced set-top box for streaming content to your television from your Mac or PC is in the pipeline but no one knows the date just yet.

True video iPod: 50% likely to be announced.
This iPod that has a widescreen display and touch screen capabilities with Wi-fi, built in FM transmitter and more could happen but this device has been rumors since the fifth generation iPod arrived last October. We continue to wait and you all know the specs so I wont go into details.

Software: 100% likely
Expect refreshed versions of iLife 07, iWorks 07. Final Cut Express next update may be released and we might finally receive a shipping date for Apples next operating system version 10.5. I cant speculate on software features but youre gonna want to buy a copy and thats about all I have to say about that.

So a lot of stuff and only 2 hours of time that Steve Jobs has to go over everything. Not everything listed will be released but a lot of it will. The one more thing will be either the iTV, iPhone or widescreen iPod. We will not receive all three. You can expect Mac mini and Mac Pro updates and the iPhone update and I assume 10.5 of the Mac OS, iTV and the widescreen iPod will be announced simultaneously with high definition video downloads on the iTunes store. What do I know? Im just a blogger. Well be there so you can learn first hand what is released as Steve Jobs takes the stage at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Well MW07 is going to be interesting! Do get a good seat at the keynote! and also go and see Steve Jobs at the end, as he does a small photoshoot at the end of the keynote! then follow Steve to the show floor.. I did last year, and bumped into Phil Shiller! (Apple Computer)..
