Rant Page (Lack of FireWire Ports on Macs)
I am a novice Macintosh user. I have a TiBook, iBook, iPod, and iSight. I like my i items. I received an iBook G4 just a few days ago and I ordered an iSight. Seems great, right? It is not. Upon plugging in all of my peripherals, I noticed that there is only one firewire port on the iBook. It had never been a problem before. I have an external Hd with a daisy chaining firewire port on the back of it. I would connect my HD to my firewire port, then my iPod the external hard drive.

When I got my iSight, I have to decide. Do I want to use my iPod plugged into my computer, or videoconference with all of my friends. I use my iPod as a backup device as well as music. I cant use my computer without the iPod attached. I use my HD for large backups. My iPod is for transporting files while at school. I am getting off subject, but you get the idea. I cant just connect the iPod, and then unplug it to use the iSight. This is not going to work.
I feel like a Windows user. Buying a new computer, only to find out that I need an adapter to make it all work. Even Dell, the largest computer manufacturer. If they sell products that use USB (Dell Axim (PDA), Digital Camera, Mouse and Keyboard), they will put at least four USB ports to accommodate their product line. If apple has two devices with the I product name, seems like a given, that they will put two firewire ports on all of their products. At least enough so people can order those products with the iBook.
Go to the Apple Store (www.store.apple.com), and when you order an iBook you can add, an iSight and iPod. How do they expect you to connect them? They dont offer a firewire hub with the order. Apple make sure you support at least your product line, as well as others.
